oops I did it again...
Apparently I can't stay away from CVS. And Blogger!
I bought two Rimmel blushes, in Berry and Spicy Nude. I wasn't sure about the pigmentation at first but check out the swatches below! These were 87¢ each!!!! I am tempted to go back and buy them all! The Berry color has a bit of shimmer, which the picture doesn't really show but it's not chunky at all. I did take all of my pictures in natural sunlight for better quality this time around.
Also got a Revlon Matte Lipstick in In the Red. This color is NUTS! I'm a little scared to wear it but it's so beautiful. I think I'll use it as more of lip-stain on a night out. And I picked up another Revlon Colorstay Lipstick in Creamy Coral...I. Love. This. Color. It could be my everyday lipcolor now. It's a little bit pinker than my natural lipcolor. I'm a fan of the Colorstay Lipsticks, they glide on so smooth.
And last but not least, I also bought this Revlon Makeup Eraser Pen. I haven't tried yet, but it seems like a really cool concept. I'll update with how well it works soon (as I make mistakes often, haha).
Good night!!! The CVS sale will go until the 16th, so get it before it's gone!

a note from Little J
So I just posted my first entry last night, and I neglected to give an intro to this blog!
My roommate and I have been following a lot of reviewers and makeup gurus on Youtube and Blogger for awhile, so finally we decided to give a try. Look for her contributions soon! We wanted to really make this geared for a college wallet especially now with the current economic situation (hence the name). For those that are familiar with the UC budget crisis, you know what I'm talking about!
We'd also like to host other contributors as well! So follow along if you would like!

Recessionista since before it was Cool
Hi Everyone!
Wanted to start off the blog with an Ulta and CVS Haul I did yesterday. Since I'm new to this whole blog scene I wanted to start with a haul...but maybe lookout for a video update or tutorial in the near future!
Ulta is having sales on their brand--$1 eyeliners and lip liners $3 nail colors and blushes etc. At those prices, worth a try!
CVS is currently (week of January 11) having a really amazing clearances on certain products. For those of you out there that are fans of drugstore makeup, I really encourage you to check it out! All the items I purchased in this haul were 75% off and ranged from $1.25 to $3.49...crazy right?! My roommate and I went nuts in our local CVS.
Ulta
I needed a smaller palette to tuck into a bag for school or work so I am giving this Good Girl palette a try. It has a slightly shimmery cream, a shimmery taupe brown, a matte brown, and a matte beige/nutty color. So far, not really impressed with color payoff by itself but it works well with a cream base or primer underneath. It's size is really perfect for portability.
At $1 each, I couldn't pass up two new lip liners (Plum and Flesh) and an eyeliner (Indigo) to try. I really like Flesh, it's a very versatile color that can be used with a lot of neutrals, nudes, pinks and light mauves.
CVS Haul--
Rimmel
I have heard amazing things about Rimmel Lasting Finish Liquid Foundation so I thought maybe I would see if I liked the Lasting Finish Mineral Powder Foundation (I actually bought two shades since they were only $2!) I do like that it comes with a buffer on top that sifts out the powder. The powder puff also prevents the minerals to get all over the inside of your purse. Not really sure how much comes out but it definitely kept my skin matte for the most part of all my classes.
I LOVE Rimmel LIPSTICKS! They come in great colors and are super smooth! Some colors were on sale for $1.32 so I picked up Celeb, Birthday Suit, and Kasbah which are pictured below in order. They have a light fragrance to them, similar to cherry Chapstick. They are pretty long lasting especially if worn with lip liner. (The last picture is out of order but it's proof of the CVS sale!)
The last Rimmel product I picked up was the Renew & Lift Liquid Foundation. These were $2.42!!!! I always have trouble matching my perfect shade, but between these two I've come pretty close. Really like the pump, you can control how much or little you want to use. The foundation is buildable but I would say that it is medium coverage.
Revlon
I really like the Illuminance Creme Shadows that I have purchased in the past. So I got super excited to see Skinlights on sale! I didn't bother to swatch these because they don't really show up on my skin, but they'd be great for highlighting and they worked really great as a base for the Ulta shadows from the beginning of this haul. And they don't crease!
I also picked up a Matte eyeshadow in Venetian Blue. I know, I know blue eye shadow? It's really a stunning blue though. A hot, bright blue... Avatar blue! It's highly pigmented and there isn't a lot of fallout.
I am always up for trying new face primers--and with the designer brands charging around $30 for a small tube I figured I had nothing to lose with Revlon's Age Defying Face Primer which I purchased for just over $3. However, I tested it on my hand and IT REEKS! It's also white--I'm wondering if would give off the white glow in pictures. I don't know if I can bring myself to put it on my face...it seriously smelled so bad, putting it on my hand was traumatizing enough.
And lastly, I bought a Color Stay Lipstick in Heavenly Mauve (LOVE!) and Creme Gloss in Slip into Pink. The Heavenly Mauve color is not quite what I would call mauve...for me it's almost a "my-lip-but-better" color. I wear it for day and night...it's fabulous!
The Creme Gloss is a pretty pink nude color but I was really disappointed when I found huge silver glitter chunks in it. Shimmer I can handle, but glitter chunks do not belong in my lip gloss anymore now that I'm no longer in 6th grade.
Loreal...I'm almost done I promise!
I found this really nice nude Color Juice lip gloss in Butterscotch Drop. The photo makes it look a little browner than it does in real life. It is a bit sticky but I don't mind it, and has a berry flavor to it. I love that it has no shimmer and it just a glassy shine.
I also purchased two H.I.P Creme Shadow Paints in Nervy and Steely. I haven't had as much luck with the H.I.P line as other reviewers, but these paints looked like something different. There aren't that many different colors to choose from, but I really like the two I picked up. I'm impressed with the color payoff, these paints really live up to their name. They work great for night looks, and I would even use them as eyeliners. After swatching these colors, I had to use quite a bit of makeup remover to get them off! So...perfect for nightwear right?
The swatches really don't do the colors justice...
Hope you found this haul useful! Go get yourselves some deals!!!
